Published on December 07, 2009

What is an MBA?

An MBA, or a Masters of Business Administration, is an academic degree that focuses on the different aspects of business, including marketing, management, human resources, and accounting. Often times students choose an area of focus or specialization. Most MBA programs last two years, though many students pursue the degree online part time, which could take longer to complete. All MBA programs should be accredited by an official body specifically designed for business school accreditation.

Why should I earn an MBA online?

Earning an MBA degree online is a sound investment in your future. An online MBA degree can open up new opportunities and career paths in executive and management level positions that seemed closed off before. Many of the higher positions of responsibility now will require some sort of advanced professional degree such as the MBA. In addition, an MBA earned online is a cost-effective method to increasing your own earnings potential. Advanced degrees, particularly an MBA from a fully accredited online college or university, will signal value and competency to prospective employers.

Furthermore, employers today recognize the value of an advanced professional degree such as an MBA degree. They want their employees to have more specialized knowledge and increased competency in management responsibilities. It is no surprise then that many employers, particularly the larger corporations, will provide some form of tuition assistance to employees who pursue MBA degrees. Aside from financial assistance, employers can also provide extra time and use of office equipment and data as a way to help employees to earn that Masters of Business Administration online.

What factors should I consider in choosing an online MBA program that is right for me?
